An experience for a good cause
Hosting the world in the Capital of Culture 2025: the Lions Club Chemnitz invites you to a top-class event.
The Chemnitz Lions Club has been organising the annual Chemnitz Duck Race since 2011. Over €190,000 have been raised in the twelve races held to date. Every year, we use this money to support the children and youth divisions of associations in our city. Our Chemnitz Duck Race will also be taking place in 2025.
European Duck Race 2025
Our home city of Chemnitz is the European Capital of Culture 2025. To mark the occasion, the Chemnitz Lions Club would like to raise its activity to an international level. We cordially invite all interested people from all over the world, from Chemnitz and especially Lions friends from the previous European Capitals of Culture, as well as from Chemnitz’s sister cities, to become part of this special duck race and adopt a racing duck.
The fundraising goal of this unique international race will be a tribute / memorial to the life's work of our Lion friend, Prof. Karl Clauss Dietel, the internationally renowned designer from Chemnitz, who has unfortunately passed away. Even today his draughts and designs are groundbreaking in technology, design and architecture.

A lasting memory of Karl Clauss Dietel
Karl Clauss Dietel (1936-2022) knew how to harmonise functional design and genuine sustainability. His milestones are more relevant today than ever and fit perfectly with the aspirations of a Capital of Culture. Find out how our Lion friend achieved this.
