Chemnitz artist Marian Kretschmer supports the European Duck Race 2025

The European Duck Race is a valuable highlight for the year in which Chemnitz becomes a European Capital of Culture. The aim is to "give culture a space" - an endeavour in which many participants are involved, including the Chemnitz Lions Club.

The European Duck Race 2025 not only contributes as the international event, but also sets artistic accents – as every participating duck is unique. This is made possible by children from Chemnitz who, under the guidance of the artist Marian Kretschmer, are responsible for the creative design.

If you therefore opt for an XXL Variant 1 racing duck, you can then look forward to a personalised work of art which the city's youngest creative minds and a seasoned Chemnitz artist have both worked on.

About Marian Kretschmer

Marian Kretschmer was born in 1983 in what was then called Karl-Marx-Stadt, now Chemnitz.  He discovered his passion for drawing at an early age and later studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Leipzig. His artwork has been recognised not only in Germany, but also internationally in cities such as Zurich, Kagera, Eldoret, Lagos and Tampere.

Kretschmer's large-format acrylic works are realistic and illustrated, with brilliant colours showing the influence of old masters. The artist, who says he "paints for a living", realised early on that painting and illustrating were his true form of expression. His pictures often combine surreal elements with reality and encourage individual interpretation.

In his works, Kretschmer addresses the state of the world. He reveals grievances by depicting the beauty of nature and life in delicate and flowing colours. His timeless works are full of imagination and offer a broad spectrum of visual power and artistic expressiveness. The combination of modern themes and outstanding craftsmanship attracts the attention of viewers.
